About Georgetown University
Georgetown University is the oldest Catholic and Jesuit university in America, founded in 1789 by Archbishop John Carroll. Georgetown today is a major student-centered, international, research university offering respected undergraduate, graduate and professional programs on its three campuses in Washington, DC. For more information about Georgetown University, visit www.georgetown.edu.

Georgetown University’s new graduate program in Sports Industry Management has announced its inaugural faculty for the 2008-09 academic year which features top executives from the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, NCAA, USOC, PGA, U.S. Soccer Foundation, U.S. Tennis Association, Fantasy Sports Association, Octagon and Under Armour.   The group has been assembled by Associate Dean Matt Winkler, a 15-year veteran of the sports industry and career education space, who joined Georgetown last January.  In the first seven months after its launch, the GU SIM program garnered over 600+ graduate student inquiries.

Combined, the Faculty boasts over 240+ years of sports industry experience and covers a wide variety of industries and disciplines with a local, national and international focus. (GU SIM Website: http://www12.georgetown.edu/scs/sports)

In the GU SIM program, students can choose between two tracks: Strategic Marketing, Communications and New Media; or Business, Management and Operations.   In addition, the Masters in Professional Studies program will utilize the spectacular list of GU Alumni sports executives to help connect students to the industry outside of the classroom and to provide exceptional networking opportunities throughout the program.
